Halloween!

The photos aren't so great, but the memories are!

Here's how Halloween went down:

After buying and retuning and buying again, we settled on a Batman outfit, a fairie and a boxer.
It was near impossible (and we almost gave up) trying to get them into these outfits at 6 p.m. Little did we know Everett was on his way to getting sick. When we finally got them dressed, we headed out - very slowly - to trick or treat.

It took a couple of houses, but the boys quickly got the hang of it and Scarlet followed along.

4 houses in, Scarlet was ready for bed, so Fab took her back and I walked around the block with the boys. While poor Fab cleaned up the disaster area that was our house, I was able to have a very wonderful and memorable trick-or-treating outing with my boys.

At each house, they screamed with delight when they knocked on the door. When Addy saw someone coming through a window, he yelled again. They would say "trick-or-treat" and then not really know what to do next. Only a few times, when Addy saw M&Ms, would they wait for candy. Otherwise, they needed to be reminded to hold out their pumpkins.

We walked into the sprinklers, where both got stuck in the water. From there on out, every house we visited was told the grand story of how we walked into the sprinklers. The boys gave people hugs, hi-fives and were so excited by this new adventure. Near the end, Everett's boxer shorts kept falling down, so we just took them off. He trick-or-treated 2 houses in a boxing robe and a pull-up - a complete classic. Now, when they see the pumpkins still out, they say, "That's were we go trick-or-treating."

After about an hour, we headed back to the house. We kept out the pumpkins and candy for the next few days to play. We counted candy, organized by color and shape, named it all - and then donated it to work. I don't know how many years I have left of keeping them candy-free (except for M&Ms for Addy) but I will take what I can get.
