We started off 2016 with a bang!! Scarlet had her tonsils and adenoids removed on Jan. 5. We were getting to the point where we could just look at her and know she had strep throat - that's how often she was getting it.
Turns out, kids that have strep that often are most likely carriers, meaning, the virus lives on the tonsils and is protected by other viruses like it. When you take antibiotics, it will calm down the flare up, but never really get rid of the core problem.
So, if you can't get the squatters to leave, you remove the house.
Scarlet was a trooper. The surgery was on a Tuesday and she was back to school one week later. She said on the strong painkillers for a few days, but came off of them by Friday. A soft diet for 10 days also helped the healing process.

Right before you head into the operating room, CHOA lets you choose a small gift from the treasure chest. |

Ah, right after getting wheeled out. She woke up, started crying and insisted that we go home. We agreed that she should sleep a little more before we left. |

Scarlet spelling out "Thank You" in Play-Doh for Vovo, who came to visit and help, and everyone else who sent her good wishes. |
