Wednesday was the first day of "real" school for Addison and Everett and also the first day of Pre-K for Scarlet, who has been home and out of day care the past year.
We talked about going to school all summer and then really increased discussions in the past week, hoping to build everyone's confidence. As you might guess, Scarlet wasn't too excited and on the first day of school, she really wanted to go with the boys.
But, we all went together to drop her at her room. We stayed a while to get comfortable, but she cried when we left. The good news is on Thursday, she cried less and on Friday, she didn't cry at all.
For the boys, we walked them to their rooms, where Addison jumped right into the action and Everett, feeling overwhelmed, didn't want to see us go. He cried just a bit, but quickly recovered. On Thursday and Friday, we dropped them via car pool, which is new, exciting and such a diversion that they barely said goodbye in the car!
Overall, we're so lucky to have the kids in schools we like and places they will thrive, we believe. The boys' elementary school has been so wonderful to both them and new "school" parents, like us. Scarlet's teacher has a master's in elementary ed and has taught Pre-K for 5 years.
Most important, they are in loving environments and ready to learn! I'm sure we'll be updating here with lots of stories about school soon! In the meantime, here's a 4-minute recap of the highlights that brought us here to Kindergarten. When they were born, school was certainly the last thing we could even fathom. And now, a fast five years later, it is here.

What a beautiful video. It looks like the first day got off without a hitch and despite a few bumpy moments, everyone looked very happy and excited. It seems like only yesterday that they were all babies/toddlers....how the time has flown. And now a new phase is starting. Enjoy every moment, because as you have seen, they grow up so fast!! In what will seem like a blink of an eye, you'll be researching colleges!! :-)
